The continuous bonding chain indeed is, in the sense of macro-molecule chains, fragile, but only in exceptional conditions such as micro mounting in cell experiments, freezing water, etc. The chain in the broadest sense of specifically being together, breaks also there where the special structure disintegrates, and thus already in the case of simple but at the same time excessive mechanical stretching.
