Which [tendencies] themselves, of course, in turn are connected with the already mentioned fine-structural features. With this, one should not forget that, taking into account the atomic sub-structure out of elementary particles, also the atoms may already possess a quasi-organismic structure. If the very strong energetic barrier of atomic stability had, up to recent times, not persuaded investigators to see atoms as ultimate particles, but had one conceptually right from the beginning started with the (as to the senses) "quality-free" elementary particles, then this thought (the quasi-organismic structure of atoms) would hardly be regarded as strange.
