This hampered application (to other objects than man) could be explained by the stipulated fact that philosophical concepts (such as cause, being, form, etc.) are equivocal. We, however, should investigate whether we not, in stipulating so, put the horse behind the cart. Ockham, for instance, does not accept equivocal concepts.
