We should not confuse  intentional  with  intensional.
An entity is  intentional  if it is just a formal sign :  Its whole being consists in intending some entity other than itself.
On the other hand, the  meaning  or signification of a concept can be interpreted either  intensionally,  or  extensionally.
A meaning or signification is  intensionally  interpreted when we let the concept, which is a natural sign, point to a certain formal content.
A meaning or signification is  extensionally  interpreted when we indicate all the individuals to which the concept is applicable. That is we indicate the extension of the domain of relevance of the concept. Such a signification is also called denotation.
